fat is the new black

I had an on-air chat with Liz Green at BBC Radio Leeds yesterday - all about Sky Tv launching a new tv channel for women only - well what do you think?

I think I am about 50/50 on whether this is a good idea or not!

Of course, if you want to watch cartoons you'd watch a cartoon channel or kids channel and if you want to watch back to back music then you'd switch to a music channel

BUT

Women only? Well what are they going to give us?

Apparantly Vain Men and Conjoined Twins - at least that's what their programmers seem to be telling us at the moment.

What would you like to see? I, for one, would hate to think that we girls were sidelined into knitting programmes and "pink sweetness" left, right and centre.

My personal tv fave's at the mo. are property shows, not the ones where we have to redecorate but something like Relocation...Phil and Kirsty are a dream team aren't they? Also like Sarah Beeney's shows and the stuff about making money buying property abroad.

But I'd hate to miss out on a great drama or a big sporting event....

beauty/fashion
mind numbing game shows

what I would like them so show...

intelligent, thought-provoking programmes quality dramas
clever comedy
good documentaries

not all women are content with dumbed down programming aimed at the young and intellectually challenged!

And, true to our expectations, Sky have been in touch about a new programme they are making to be shown on Sky Real Lives.
