BBC Breakfast News 2007/11/14 13:17
I spent time at the BBC yesterday morning with Professor Ian Craft discussing his experience of dealing with overweight patients requesting IVF treatment. He cannot tell me how many women have failed to become pregnant via this method due to their obesity. He can only tell me that women are getting fatter in his experience. Well we know that!
He can tell me that he suggests his patients lose weight prior to his ministrations. He cannot tell me the methods he promotes to incur that weight loss.
He can tell me that there are always exceptions to his rules and that a patient with a BMI of 43 had a successful pregnancy following IVF.

And further to my previous post - can anyone explain why we all fall foul of the post code lottery when seaking this treatment on the NHS
Seems that some hospitals do let us fatties onto their IVF programmes and some hospitals don't -
Do you know you can chose the hospital you use? You are not restricted to the hospital in your area.
Professor Craft hasn't got the answers - or has he - do you believe it is simply a case of if you want a baby, you best be thin?
