Everyone has a right to speak out 2007/11/15 14:52
We absolutely believe in everyone's right to an opinion so we have included here some of the messages we receive in response to Vicki's public appearances.

Once we receive these messages, we always mail back to the sender asking if we can upload their message so you can all read it too - however, often we find that the mail addresses are non-respondable which is a great shame.

But please feel free to comment on the messages by adding you own to the thread

Objection 2007/11/15 14:54
Dear Fatties,

I was directed to this page by a concerned colleague of mine this very afternoon and was shocked at what I saw. You realise that by condoning women of any age being morbidly obese is not only irresponsible, it's dangerous!

You and your friends are part of an increasing number of 'the fat' that seem to be all about empowering fat people. Whereas this is excellent if you place sufficient emphasis on reducing weight to sub-danger levels, if you convince people putting a substantial and constant strain on internal organs is a 'normal, healthy' thing, you're putting their lives at risk.

I'm also concerned about the message children are taking from this. There are already far too many obese people as it is. Around 3% of people in Britain are morbidly obese as a result of a condition or syndrome. This leaves a staggering 97% that either choose to be the size they are or are just too stupid to change their lifestyle for the better. If we continue to treat these people as a publicly acceptable section of society, we've giving our children the impression that this is 'OK', that it's 'normal'. This, again, is dangerous.

I hope you see the point I am trying to make and, while I'm sure you will still publish 'fattest' arguments, please consider all the people who have to live/work/socialise with the more easily exhausted and cumbersome members of society.

fat is NOT the new black 2007/11/15 14:56
I know fat people are always unhappy to examine their own actions as the cause of their fatness... but it's true.

You people cost the health service a fortune, you moan about not being able to lose weight, and yet I queue behind fatties whenever I go to KFC or Burger King. I stare in disbelief at what fatties call a 'normal' portion, and again when I see how big the clothes on sale these days are.

The time to stop making excuses is now! Fat is not the new black... to make a statement as profound as that is unfounded! The treatment of blacks was directly out of their own control, but YOU are fat because you eat too much, not because you were born that way.

If there is a vote for the proposed 'Fat Tax', I will vote in favour of it... if there was an option to vote for weighing stations outside resturants I'd do that too, and try and shame some of you into walking to work!

Who is this idiot equating being fat with being black? Saying on national radio that being a fat ass is the same as being black is stupid on so many levels. Trying to be controversial while jumping on the fat friends band wagon is a cheap trick. Why didn't you call it fat is the new white, are only black people the poor victims of racism? Black and Indian people aren't racist then I suppose? Ever been to africa or india sweetheart. Stop stuffing your face and get a real job!!!

You lack self control 2007/11/15 15:01
Dear Madam, I came across your website whilst surfing away earlier. I write to comment that from a medical perspective I think what you are saying is highly irresponsible and dangerous. It is a physiological fact that very fat people can not be fit. You may be fit in relative terms to other very fat people, but you are not fit in the normal definition of the term. Actually, you are deluded, and that is a dangerous delusion because you are attempting to encourage other people in the belief that to be obese is fine. It is categorically not fine, and obesity is already one of the biggest challenges faced by the NHS today - and soon (within the next 5-7 years) it will be a bigger drain on our resources than smoking, alcohol abuse and other drug abuse put together! People like you, who attempt to assuage your own personal guilt (at your inherent laziness, lack of self control and lack of self respect - which are the key reasons behind obesity) by making it 'normal' are a significant part of the problem. Madam, you are deluded and in denial and I am going to do what I can to shut your irresponsible website down. Do your personal health a favour, and that of the NHS at a national level and stop eating so much, do more exercise and lose some of the fatal amounts of weight that you are building up. Good day

Well I have to add my voice to these posts, and just say that the next time you are "lined up behind a fattie in KFC" just try to remember that not everyone is fat because they stuff their faces or whatever it is you think we do!
I happen to be overweight a)Because of some of the medication I am on, and b) Because I am unable to exercise due to a disability which is unrelated to my obesity.
I do not stuff my face, in reality I eat very little, but weigh well over 20 stone. My doctor has tried me on 2 different types of slimming tablets, and I was doing diet sheets, and my Dr said the only thing I was doing wrong was not having enough calcium, and I STILL put weight on!!
I believe the title of this website (although I did not set it up or anything), but my understanding of the title is that fat is the new fashion statement/in thing - not that fat people are like slaves - only someone with a twisted mind would ever think someone would make a statement like that! However I do think that being fat is the only thing these days, that people are allowed to be so openly, and legally discriminatory about - if someone made a sexist/homophobic/ and yes even racist comment they would be vilified, but it is perfectly ok, and there are a lot who condone people being sizist, please remember we are humans as well!
My body isn't willing but my mind is very able!
