You should be able to pick up a story the BBC Website have run from the link above

I do believe people are now becoming "deaf" to the subject of weight loss, body change

No useful messages are getting across

As soon as we hear the word"obesity" everyone switches off.....

What do you think?

Yep I certainly switch off as it just seems to be the medias latest bandwagon.
There certainly isn't so much fuss made over the super slim celebs plastered everywhere that will make kids go one of two ways - either turn to food or away from it.
Why is less offensive to be skeltal than it is to be overweight? I don't get it.
As for the word obese I think it is being bandied around too much now and people are so used to hearing it that there is no impact in it anymore.
I think we need to look at the whole picture and ask why do certain people have certain relationships with food, it is more than just the stereotypical view that overweight people do nothing but sit around and eat.
Personally I am in firm belief that the very overweight such as myself, can have serious issues with food, and that it is an eating disorder equally as damaging as anorexia, yet other than 2 lots of tablets my Dr has dished out to me - both of which I continued to put weight on with their is no help for me - there is no clinic I can go to for help with my eating, yet if I was in danger of damaging my health from being underweight they would do more. If being overweight is so dangerous then why is there not more support out there?
I am disabled, and am unable to work, and cannot afford to go to somewhere like weight watchers, who at the end of the day cannot help change my relationship with food!
Sorry for the major rant guys but it makes my blood boil!
My body isn't willing but my mind is very able!
