After my second chat on the JV Show, Andy Steele telephoned me - we have been in touch ever since and he has kindly sent us some Andyisms and a picture of him with his other half. Here's Andy: We arrived at the stables and were introduced to our guide, who in turn produced horses from the stable one by one. Michelle was given a lovely small honey coloured pony. Dave and my brother got medium sized grey horses. Then the stable owner lead my horse from the stable. The whole stable-yard went dark, as the biggest horse I had ever seen was lead from the stable. Billy, my horse, was apparently half shire horse. You can imagine the problems I had getting on his back. Eventually we were underway, and to be honest I was enjoying the whole experience, that is until Billy decided he had had enough of me on his back. Like a horse possessed he decided to gallop off away from the others and turn a sharp left hand bend back towards the stable-block. I clung on for dear life. Eventually I lost my grip and was sent crashing to the ground. My whole life flashed before me, Images of Roy Kinnear (who died falling off a horse) and Christopher Reeve (again fell off a horse and became paralysed) also flashed in front of me. I landed. The fall seemed to take forever. I rolled around on the grass and eventually came to stop in a patch of daisies. I could hear the others in the group catching up to me. I checked each limb was still attached, by moving each of them in turn. As luck would have it, I landed on something soft, my head! The only damage done to myself was a dirty shirt and pants. I am absolutely convinced that had I been the correct weight for my height, I would not be around to tell that tale. I believe that the layer of fat covering my body acted as a shock absorber. Since that day, I have never set foot within 6 feet of a horse. |

I have been with my wife, Sue, for 6 years (married for 2 months). I’ll never forget one day in her parents house. We were sat around the dining table chatting away when I leaned back on the chair upon which I was sitting. When I say “leaned back” I don’t mean on the back 2 legs, I just mean my back touched the backrest of the chair. All of a sudden I heard a loud cracking noise and to my horror found myself in the next instant lying flat on my back with the splinters of wood that was the chair under me. I felt such a pillock!
